Description:

Goutweed is a compound leaf, ovate in shape with serrated margins. The leaves are pinnate with an opposite stem arrangment. The stem is Herbaceous and stalky. the flowers are in umbels. The flowers have 5 small white petals. The fruit are oval small seeds.

How to get rid of it?

Mow down the Goutweed then spray with a systemic herbicide during the growing season. Hand picking can be effective for small patches but is tedious.

What to replace it with?

Goutweed can be replace with Fragaria virginiana a native wild strawberry.
